Building Form Rules in the Adapt Apps Builder
Last updated :

Form rules configure your forms and fields to respond dynamically to user input. You can set up rules to hide a field when a Yes/No toggle is set to "Yes", make a field mandatory, or reveal an entire section at a specific workflow stage. Form rules allow flexibility and control over your form's behavior and layout.
How to add rules to your form
Watch the full walkthrough here, or follow the written steps below.
Navigate to the Form Rules Builder
From the builder dashboard, go to the Form Section, select the dropdown menu in the top-right corner, and click Form Rules. Here you will see a list of all your current form rules associated with your form.

Create a New Rule
In the left side panel, select Create New Rule. Enter a clear, descriptive name—such as "Show Billing Address when different from Shipping"—so teammates can immediately understand its purpose at a glance.
Set Your Conditions
Define the criteria required to trigger the rule. In the condition builder, select your trigger Field, pick an Operator (such as Equals, Is Empty, or Contains), and specify the target Value.

Configure Your Rule's Actions
In the right-hand panel, select Form Actions to specify what occurs when your conditions are met. Choose the target fields or sections and assign actions such as Show, Hide, Require, or Disable.

Save Your Changes
Once you have finished configuring your conditions and actions, click the Save button in the top navigation bar to store your updates.
Test Your Form Rules
To test your rules, open your form in the User Console and interact with the trigger fields to verify that the conditional visibility, field requirements, and overall layout behaviours execute as expected.
