Boards are the foundation of your Adapt Apps workspace. A board is where your team organizes, tracks, and manages all of your work. Think of it as a smart, visual spreadsheet that brings your data to life. This guide will walk you through the core concepts of boards so you can get started quickly.
What is a Board?
A board is a collection of items (rows) organized into groups. Each board serves a specific purpose — like tracking projects, managing tasks, logging requests, or storing data. You can customize boards with columns, views, and automations to fit your exact workflow.
Understanding Groups
Groups are the colored sections within a board that help you categorize items. For example, a project board might have groups like "To Do", "In Progress", and "Done". You can collapse, reorder, and color-code groups to keep your board organized.
Working with Items
Items are the individual rows in your board — each one represents a task, request, record, or any unit of work. Click any item to open its detail view, where you can add updates, attach files, and collaborate with your team.
Pro Tip: Use groups to create logical sections. Color-coding groups makes it easy to scan your board at a glance.
Customizing Columns
Columns define the data you track for each item. Adapt Apps offers dozens of column types — Status, Person, Date, Text, Numbers, Dropdown, and more. Add, remove, or reorder columns to build the perfect board for your workflow.

Board Views
Beyond the default table view, boards support multiple views to visualize your data differently — Chart View, Calendar View, Kanban View, Form View, and more. Switch between views using the tabs at the top of your board.
